This document has not been reviewed by a lawyer and has not been signed off by the founder. It is published so the pages that link to it are not dead, and it describes what abhi becho actually does — but it is not final, and it must not be relied on as the terms in force until this banner is gone.
These terms govern your use of abhi becho. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them.
What abhi becho is
abhi becho is a neighbourhood marketplace with three parts: listings for used goods, listings for items to rent, and a grocery storefront where local shops sell to you. For used goods and rentals we are an intermediary only — we introduce a buyer to a seller and we do not buy, sell, own, inspect, store or deliver anything listed. For grocery orders we take payment on the shop’s behalf and pass it on. Who you are contracting with differs between the two, and every screen tries to make that clear.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or older and able to enter a contract under Indian law. One account per person. You are responsible for what happens on your account, including anything done by somebody you let use your phone.
Your account
You sign in with your mobile number and a one-time code, or with Google or Apple linked to a verified mobile number. Keep your number and your device secure. Tell us immediately if you think somebody else has access to your account. You can sign out of any device from Settings.
Listing something
Everything you publish must be accurate, must be yours to sell or to rent, and must be legal to sell in India. Photographs must be of the actual item. Prices are yours to set. You are responsible for describing faults honestly; a listing that hides one is a listing we will remove.
What may not be listed
Weapons and ammunition, drugs and controlled substances, prescription medicines outside the pharmacy flow and its verification, live animals, counterfeit or stolen goods, adult content, tobacco and alcohol, government-issued documents, and anything else that is illegal to sell in India or that we tell you is not permitted here. We remove listings and suspend accounts for these without warning.
Meeting, paying and collecting
For used goods and rentals, you meet the other person and settle payment between yourselves. abhi becho does not hold that money, does not escrow it and cannot reverse it. Rental security deposits are advisory figures shown to help you agree — they are collected by the owner in person and never through the app. Meet in a public place, check the item before you pay, and do not send money in advance to somebody you have not met.
Grocery orders and payment
Grocery orders are paid either on delivery or online through our payment gateway. We are not a party to what is in the bag: the shop is the seller. Prices, availability and delivery windows come from the shop and can change. Where a prescription is required we must verify it before the order is accepted.
Fees
Using abhi becho is free for buyers. We charge participating shops a commission on grocery orders, and sellers may pay to promote a listing. Any fee is shown before you agree to it. TO BE CONFIRMED BEFORE LAUNCH: the commission rate and the promotion prices are set in the product, not here, and this clause should name where a shop can see them.
Wallet credit
Referral and promotional credit is credit inside abhi becho. It can be spent on things we sell — currently listing promotion — and it is not money: it cannot be withdrawn, transferred to another account or converted to cash, and it is forfeited if your account is deleted or permanently blocked.
Reviews and conduct
Reviews must be about a deal that actually happened. Do not harass, threaten, spam or defraud anybody. Do not scrape the platform, attack it, or attempt to reach data that is not yours. Do not use abhi becho to advertise anything off-platform.
Moderation, suspension and appeals
We remove content and suspend accounts that break these terms or that put somebody at risk. Where we suspend an account we tell the person what happened and they may appeal. A permanent block is permanent, and we keep a coded record of the blocked number so it cannot be undone by making a new account — the privacy policy explains exactly what that record is and how long it lasts.
What we do not promise
We do not guarantee that any listing is accurate, that any seller will turn up, that any item is fit for a purpose, or that the service will be uninterrupted. We verify phone numbers and we act on reports; we do not inspect goods. Nothing in this clause takes away a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, which cannot be contracted out of.
Liability
DRAFT — this clause needs counsel. It should state the limit of our liability for the service itself, and it must not attempt to disclaim liability the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or the Information Technology Act, 2000 does not allow an intermediary to disclaim. No number has been chosen and none is invented here.
Changes to these terms
We will publish any change on this page and, where the change is material, tell you in the app before it takes effect.
Governing law and where disputes are heard
These terms are governed by the laws of India. TO BE COMPLETED: this clause names the courts that have jurisdiction, and that follows from the entity’s registered office, which is not yet configured on this deployment. It is deliberately blank rather than filled with a plausible city.
