Privacy policy
This is how abhi becho collects, uses and protects your personal data, under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect
Your phone number and the name you choose, your delivery pincode and any addresses you save, the listings and orders you create, the messages you send other users, the photographs you upload, and basic device information needed to send you notifications. We do not collect your contacts, your call logs or your precise location in the background.
Why we collect it
To sign you in, to show you what is for sale near you, to let a buyer and a seller reach each other, to take payment and issue refunds, and to keep the platform safe. We do not sell your data to anybody, ever.
Who sees it
The person on the other side of a deal sees your display name and what you chose to publish — never your phone number, unless you send it yourself. Our payment gateway sees what it must to move money. Our moderators see what a complaint or a report is about. Nobody else.
How long we keep it
Order and payment records are kept for as long as tax and company law require them. Chats and reviews stay for the person on the other side of them, anonymised once you leave. If an account is permanently blocked for a safety reason, we keep a coded form of that phone number — no name, no account, nothing anybody can read back — for three years, so the block cannot be undone by deleting the account and signing up again; it is removed if the block is lifted. Everything else we hold about you is removed or anonymised when your account is deleted.
Your rights
You can download a complete copy of everything we hold about you, correct anything wrong, and delete your account — all from Settings, without asking anybody. Deletion takes effect after a 30-day window in which you can change your mind.
How we protect it
Your data travels encrypted, your one-time codes are never stored in a readable form, and uploaded documents are kept in private storage that no public link reaches. Access by our own staff is logged.
Children
abhi becho is for adults. We do not knowingly create accounts for anybody under 18, and we remove one if we learn of it.
If we don't put it right
If you are not satisfied with how we answered you, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India — the authority set up under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 to hear exactly this. You do not need our permission and you do not have to go through us first.
If something goes wrong
Raise a grievance in the app and we will acknowledge it within 24 hours and answer it within 15 days — the timeline the Information Technology Rules, 2021 set for grievances. Our Grievance Officer is named below.
